Swalec Plate Champions.

Now the partying has stopped, I thought I would put a few words together.

For any player regardless of the level they play at, it has to be a dream to step out on the hallowed turf on the Principality stadium, our national stadium.

I have to first thank Penallta for a great game of rugby, they certainly done their homework on us and it nearly paid off for them, not the Penallta we are normally used to kicking possession away, when they normally run with ball in hand at every opportunity.

Sport is all about fine margins and I have to say it was not the best way for a team to lose, but in all sport there has to be a winner.

The way the players, supporters and the officials of Penallta conducted themselves after the game was fantastic, gracious and humble in defeat you are all a credit to your club.

We had a few concerns last week with a few players fitness, but there as always was Magic Meirion Thomas our Physio ensuring everyone was ready for most probably the biggest game of their career.

After watching the game about three times I still can’t believe, the composure of our players.

When Liam Jones narrowly missed the 45 meter penalty I thought time is slipping away from us.

But from the clearance kick we regained passion from the line out, after 16 phases Liam attempted his first drop goal and was charged down.

Then I seriously thought the game had slipped from our reach, because Penalltas defence was resolute.

The players had recycled the ball for another 11 phases, before putting Liam in the pocket to strike that ball straight between the uprights.

It’s fair to say that International teams can only dream of going through this many phases of play and holding on to the ball for 4.5 minutes.

I think Liam Jones had nerves of steel to stroll up and attempt that 2nd drop goal.

Going back to the clubhouse and walking back in with all our supporters there singing on the top of their voices, was something I will never forget for the rest of my life, and I am sure everyone involved felt the same.

The season is far from over yet and the treble is well within our reach.

To pick up that treble will be something only a small village like ours can dream of.

Everyone in the village can be a part of that, by cheering this special group of players on to the glory they deserve.

I know all of them will round this special season off, with a fantastic tour to New Orleans and Nashville.

Huge thank you to everyone involved this season.
